Students Protest Pauline Hanson and One Nation Across Australia

Hundreds of high school and university students held protests across Australia on August 13 to denounce Pauline Hanson and the One Nation party. In Bendigo, students marched through the central business district and Rosalind Park, while approximately 100 students gathered at the University of Wollongong library to protest Hanson's policies, specifically citing the White Australia Policy and the treatment of marginalized groups.

Clashes occurred at both sites between anti-Hanson protesters and a smaller number of One Nation supporters. In Wollongong, Simon Upitis of the Wollongong Undergraduate Student Association addressed the crowd, while One Nation branch executive John Adams attended to offer counter-arguments and challenge protesters to a debate.

Senator Hanson responded via social media, arguing that students should instead protest the cost-of-living crisis and stagnant wage growth. She claimed that she and her party are fighting for the future of the youth, asserting that current governments are leaving the country weaker and less safe.
