Ford Merges EV and Industrial Units Following Doug Field Departure
Ford Motor Company created a new Product Creation and Industrialization organization to streamline EV and digital operations under COO Kumar Galhotra.
Ford Motor Company established a new Product Creation and Industrialization organization to merge its electric vehicle, digital, and design teams with global industrial operations. The restructuring is led by COO Kumar Galhotra, who has absorbed the responsibilities of Doug Field, the former chief EV, digital, and design officer who departed the company.
This reorganization follows a $19.5 billion write-down and the cancellation of several electric models, driven by softening consumer demand and policy changes under the Trump administration. The company intends to update the majority of its worldwide and North American lineups through this shift, targeting an adjusted EBIT margin of 8% by 2029.
While the restructuring consolidates several units, Richard A. Clarke continues to lead the internal team developing the Universal EV platform. Additionally, the company announced that Kieran Cahill, vice president of manufacturing for Europe and IMG, will retire effective May 1.
