Patrick Herminie Elected President of SIDS DOCK Assembly

President Patrick Herminie of Seychelles was elected by acclamation to lead the Tenth Session of the SIDS DOCK Assembly during a hybrid session on September 24, 2026. He assumes the presidency of the organization through December 2027, succeeding Prime Minister Feleti Teo of Tuvalu.

As part of the new leadership structure, the Assembly elected Prime Minister Lord Fatafehi Fakafānua of Tonga and Prime Minister John Briceno of Belize as Vice Presidents for the Pacific and Caribbean regions, respectively. The organization serves as a coordination platform for Small Island Developing States to address sustainable development, climate resilience, and energy security.

Under the leadership of Herminie, Seychelles intends to use the platform to advance ocean-based energy solutions. The administration also aims to strengthen cooperation with international partners to secure necessary financing for sustainable energy projects.
