Scatec Acquires 77 MW Urleasca Wind Farm in Romania

The Norwegian renewable energy provider Scatec has signed an agreement to acquire the 77 MW Urleasca onshore wind project in Romania from the developer OX2. The acquisition marks Scatec's first entry into the European onshore wind market and expands its existing solar portfolio in the region. The project is estimated to cost 168 million euros, funded through a combination of equity and non-recourse debt.

To support the development, Nordex Group secured an order from OX2 to supply and install 11 N175/6.X turbines. This agreement includes a 35-year Premium Service contract. The wind farm has secured a long-term Contract-for-Difference with the Romanian state, covering approximately 43 MW of capacity at an average price of 71.3 euros per megawatt-hour, while the remaining power will be sold on the wholesale electricity market.

OX2 remains contracted to manage the construction phase, which is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026. Financial close is anticipated in the same period, with final commissioning targeted for the second half of 2028. Terje Pilskog, CEO of Scatec, described the project as having strong fundamentals and providing a disciplined path to commissioning.
