Polish Security Services Hold Emergency Meeting After Plot Targets Tusk
Polish security services convened an emergency meeting Sunday after receiving email threats targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Polish security services held an emergency meeting on Sunday, October 11, at the Internal Security Agency's Counter-Terrorism Centre following reports of a potential attack on government leadership. The threats targeted Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and Minister-Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak ordered immediate action after the Military Gendarmerie received the threat information. Radio Zet reported that the warning was delivered via email.
The security alert comes during a period of deep political polarization in Poland and heightened regional tensions caused by the war in Ukraine. Authorities are also on high alert following a recent wave of school violence that resulted in the death of a caretaker on Thursday.
