Bangladesh Plans Purchase of 10 Airbus Aircraft for Biman

The Government of Bangladesh plans to purchase 10 aircraft from Airbus SE to expand the fleet of its national carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat announced on Tuesday that the government could sign the agreement as early as October.

The proposed acquisition includes four A350-900 wide-body aircraft for long-haul services to North America, Europe, and the Middle East, alongside six A321neo narrow-body jets for regional routes. This procurement follows a recent deal for 11 Boeing jets, which brings Biman's total Boeing commitments to 25 aircraft, including 737-8 MAX jets and 787-10 Dreamliners.

Biman currently operates a fleet of 19 aircraft and serves approximately 20 per cent of the country's air passengers.
