PDP and ADC Faction Upload 2027 Election Candidates to INEC

The Peoples Democratic Party and a faction of the African Democratic Congress have submitted their 2027 general election candidate lists to the INEC portal.

The Peoples Democratic Party and a faction of the African Democratic Congress have successfully uploaded their candidate lists for the 2027 general elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara announced that the PDP has submitted the names of its presidential candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, and vice presidential candidate, Babangida Umaru, along with National Assembly candidates. Takushara described the move as a decisive step in fulfilling the party's promise to fully participate in the upcoming elections. This submission follows a period of leadership crisis and a Supreme Court judgment that established the recognition of Takushara's leadership. The party is now awaiting the completion of uploads for governorship and State House of Assembly candidates.

Separately, a faction of the African Democratic Congress led by National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe submitted its own candidate list. This faction nominated Professor Chris Uba for president and Dr. Shamsuddeen Modibbo Barkindo for vice president. Gombe stated that the submission adhered to the Electoral Act 2022 and INEC guidelines, characterizing the action as a commitment to fielding competent leadership and protecting the interests of legacy members against anti-democratic tendencies.
