Standards Commissioner Investigates Reform UK Deputy Leader Richard Tice

Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Daniel Greenberg opened an investigation on July 28 into Richard Tice, the deputy leader of Reform UK. The probe examines whether Tice violated Rule 6 of the parliamentary code of conduct during a June 22 speech concerning UK democracy and Israeli influence.

Specifically, the investigation focuses on whether Tice failed to mention a September trip to Israel funded by a pro-Israel lobbying group. While the trip was listed in his official register of interests, the Commissioner is investigating if it should have been referenced during the debate. Tice characterized the probe as the result of a complaint from an "anti semitic anti Israel lobby group" and claimed he is being investigated for "standing against antisemitism."

This inquiry occurs alongside other standards probes. A separate investigation into DUP MP Sammy Wilson for a similar failure to declare an interest was recently opened. Additionally, an investigation into Reform UK leader Nigel Farage regarding a £5 million donation from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne remains paused; that inquiry may resume if Farage is re-elected in the upcoming Clacton by-election.
