Singapore Factory Output Grows 7.2 Percent in June 2026

Singapore's factory output grew 7.2 percent in June 2026, missing economist forecasts as electronics growth offset declines in chemicals and biomedical manufacturing.

Singapore's factory output grew 7.2 percent year-on-year in June 2026, according to data from the Economic Development Board. This figure represents a moderation from the 17.8 percent growth recorded in May and fell short of private-sector economist projections, which ranged from 9.1 to 9.3 percent.

Growth was primarily driven by the electronics cluster, which rose 21.3 percent. This surge was attributed to sustained demand for consumer electronics and semiconductors tied to artificial intelligence. Other contributing sectors included precision engineering, which increased 14.9 percent, and transport engineering, which saw a 4.6 percent increase.

Conversely, some sectors experienced significant contractions. The chemicals cluster declined 11.7 percent, the steepest drop among sectors, due to feedstock supply disruptions in petrochemicals and petroleum. Biomedical manufacturing also contracted by 11.4 percent. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall industrial output decreased 7.2 percent during June.
