BJP Nominates Ashutosh Tiwari for Datia Assembly By-election

The Bharatiya Janata Party nominated Ashutosh Tiwari for the Datia by-election and postponed its state executive meeting to prioritize the upcoming vote.

The Bharatiya Janata Party nominated Ashutosh Tiwari to contest the Datia Assembly by-election in Madhya Pradesh, passing over former state Home Minister Narottam Mishra. The seat became vacant after Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti was disqualified following a fraud conviction. Polling is scheduled for July 30, with results to be counted on August 3. Ashutosh Tiwari described himself as an ordinary party worker and expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the nomination.

To prioritize the by-election and the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, BJP state President Hemant Khandelwal postponed the state executive committee meeting originally scheduled for July 18 and 19 in Orchha. Khandelwal stated the decision was made in view of the by-election and the forthcoming legislative session running from July 20 to July 24.

In a separate move on July 10, the BJP also replaced candidate Abhishek Kumar with Neeraj Kumar Sinha for the Bankipur constituency by-election in Patna, Bihar.
