Law Firms Warn Corporations of Democratic Congressional Probes

Law and lobbying firms are advising corporations to prepare for congressional investigations if Democrats win control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.

Law and lobbying firms are advising corporations to prepare for increased congressional scrutiny and potential investigations if Democrats win control of at least one chamber of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections. Firms including BakerHostetler have issued notices urging clients to develop defensive strategies to mitigate risks associated with potential probes.

Analysts from Evercore ISI and Beacon Policy Advisors have identified several high-risk targets. These include artificial intelligence labs such as OpenAI and Google, oil companies, and pharmaceutical firms that entered pricing deals with the Trump administration. Private prison operators GEO Group and CoreCivic are also expected to face scrutiny.

Companies that donated to President Donald Trump's White House ballroom project, including Amazon, Apple, and Meta, are highlighted as likely targets for investigation. Representative Robert Garcia of California, who may chair the House Oversight Committee, has already criticized these donors and co-sponsored the Stop Ballroom Bribery Act.
