OpenAI Projects $20 Billion Revenue and Rejects Federal Bailouts

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman projected $20 billion in annual recurring revenue by 2025 while rejecting U.S. government guarantees for data center infrastructure.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the company is on track to achieve $20 billion in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2025, following reports that it reached $10 billion in June. Altman set a long-term goal of reaching hundreds of billions in revenue by 2030 and disclosed $1.4 trillion in commitments for data center operations over the next eight years.

These financial projections emerged amid a dispute over government assistance. White House A.I. adviser David Sacks stated that there would be no federal bailout for A.I. companies after OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar suggested the company might need government support for infrastructure investments.

Altman clarified that OpenAI does not seek or want government guarantees for its data centers. He stated that governments should not pick winners or losers and that taxpayers should not bail out companies that make bad business decisions or lose in the market.
