US Military Deploys Anduril Counter-Drone Flyaway Kits to Bases
United States Northern Command is deploying AI-driven counter-drone flyaway kits to domestic bases to combat a surge in drone incursions.
The United States Northern Command is deploying high-tech counter-drone flyaway kits to reinforce domestic bases against an increasing number of drone incursions. These kits will initially be stationed at three installations, located on the East Coast, West Coast, and in Alaska, with the flexibility to be dispatched to other bases as needed.
Manufactured by Anduril Industries, the kits utilize AI-driven tools including Mobile Sentry for threat tracking, Wisp SkyFence for situational awareness, and Pulsar for radio-frequency detection and electromagnetic effects. The deployment responds to a sharp increase in domestic drone incidents, which rose from 200 in 2022 to 420 last year.
Despite the advanced technology, the kits are not designed for immediate response to surprise attacks. Due to the requirements for command approval and logistical transport, deployment can take up to 24 hours. The broader effort to provide varying levels of counter-drone capabilities across hundreds of installations is overseen by the United States Department of Defense.
