DCCC Adds Brian Poindexter to Red to Blue List

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added union ironworker Brian Poindexter to its Red to Blue list of competitive candidates for Ohio's Seventh Congressional District. The designation follows domestic abuse allegations against Republican incumbent Max Miller, who is accused of fracturing his daughter's collarbone and holding a gun to his ex-wife's head.

Miller denied the claims, asserting his ex-wife fabricated them to sabotage his career. Despite calls to withdraw from Senator Bernie Moreno and another Ohio senator, Miller refused to step aside before the ballot replacement deadline passed on Monday. He has pledged $1 million of his own funds to his campaign to secure reelection.

While President Donald Trump described Miller as "a good person" and declined to call for his withdrawal, Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters remained noncommittal regarding party spending for the seat. The Cook Political Report has since shifted the race's status from Likely Republican to Tossup.

Poindexter, a Brook Park city councilman, is campaigning on working-class issues and has secured several union endorsements. DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene praised Poindexter as a leader who has spent his life working alongside the people he seeks to represent, contrasting his background with that of Miller.
