Goodwin Plc, a London-listed engineering firm, has initiated a strategic review to maximize shareholder value. The process may result in the sale of a substantial portion of its mechanical engineering division, which encompasses Goodwin International and Goodwin Steel Castings.
This division specializes in precision-machined castings for defense and nuclear applications, producing critical components for submarines and ships. The company has already received expressions of interest from several buyout firms with specific experience in the defense sector.
Rothschild & Co. is advising the board on the strategic review. Following the announcement, shares in the company rose as much as 16%, bringing its estimated market value to approximately £1.6 billion.
