Hezbollah Claims Ownership of Explosives Seized in Lebanon
Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah announced that explosives seized by Lebanese security forces in the Bekaa region were intended for attacks against Israeli troops.
Lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah announced Thursday that Hezbollah owned hundreds of kilograms of explosives seized by Lebanese security forces last week. The materials were intercepted in a vehicle at a checkpoint in the eastern Bekaa region, leading to the arrest of two individuals. While Fadlallah stated the explosives were intended for attacks against Israeli troops occupying Lebanese territory, other sources indicated the materials were meant for drones.
The seizure occurs as the Government of Lebanon attempts to disarm the Iran-backed movement under a US-brokered deal with Israel. Hezbollah has refused to disarm as long as Israeli forces remain on Lebanese land. The group's logistics have faced increased strain since the ousting of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024, which severed its primary arms supply route through Syria.
