Supreme Court Stays Probe Into Pinarayi Vijayan Bribery Case
The Supreme Court of India issued a one-week stay on a bribery probe involving former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Chennai Metro Rail Limited.
The Supreme Court of India issued a one-week stay on October 21 regarding a probe into former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The investigation involves a bribery case connected to the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and alleged financial transactions between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited and the now-defunct Exalogic Solutions.
The stay follows a plea filed by Vijayan seeking to halt vigilance proceedings. A vacation bench consisting of Justices Joymala Bagchi and V Mohana reviewed the challenge to a Kerala High Court order that had previously directed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
In addition to Vijayan, his daughter Veena T and son-in-law P A Mohamed Riyas also filed challenges with the apex court to contest the High Court's directive.
