Amit Shah Launches ₹700-Crore Amul Dairy Project in West Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the world's largest curd production plant on July 19, 2026. The facility, part of the ₹700-crore Amul Bengal Dairy Project located at the Howrah Food Park in Sankrail, will process 30 lakh liters of milk and produce 10 lakh kilograms of curd daily. The project is expected to benefit approximately 1.25 lakh dairy farmers, including over 30,000 women.

During the ceremony, Shah aligned the initiative with the visions of "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" and "White Revolution 2.0." He announced that the central government would roll out over 70 farmer welfare schemes in the state within six months, alongside a new animal breed improvement program featuring a Sex-Sorted Semen facility. Shah credited the project's realization to the BJP government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who provided 30 acres of land free of cost to the Amul Federation.

Beyond industrial development, Shah inaugurated the first phase of the Museum of Word (Shabdalok) at the National Library in Alipore and a cooperative society for taxi drivers. He also conducted high-level security reviews with state officials to address infiltration from Bangladesh and terrorism, emphasizing the creation of an anti-narcotics task force and an anti-terrorist squad to secure the border.
