Meta Bans ByteDance Advertising Across Seven Countries
Meta Platforms Inc. banned ByteDance and its third-party advertisers from running paid marketing campaigns across its platforms in seven global markets.
Meta Platforms Inc. banned ByteDance Ltd., the parent company of TikTok, from running advertisements and paid marketing messages across its platforms on Thursday. The restriction applies to the United States, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The ban extends beyond ByteDance itself to include third-party advertisers who run campaigns linking to TikTok or other ByteDance properties within these seven countries. This action specifically targets the ability of ByteDance to market its services using Meta's suite of applications.
The move intensifies the ongoing competition between the two social media giants by restricting ByteDance's access to Meta's advertising infrastructure in key global markets.
