Aura Power and Verdant Energy Merge to Scale UK Solar

Aura Power Developments and Verdant Energy merged to create a gigawatt-scale independent power producer specializing in solar and battery storage systems in the United Kingdom.

Aura Power Developments and Verdant Energy have merged to establish a gigawatt-scale independent power producer specializing in solar and battery energy storage systems in the United Kingdom. The combined entity will operate under the Aura Power brand, managing approximately 1GW of operating and under-construction assets alongside a development pipeline of roughly 10GW.

Simon Coulson, the founder and CEO of Aura Power, will lead the merged company while retaining a minority share. He stated that the merger marks a transformative milestone and provides the financial strength and operational expertise needed to accelerate the delivery of critical infrastructure to help the UK meet green energy targets.

The transaction received backing from CVC DIF, which secured financing from Eiffel Investment Group S.A.S. to facilitate the merger, refinance junior facilities, and fund future pipeline growth. While the company's primary focus remains the UK market, it will continue to pursue selective battery energy storage system project development across Europe.
