One NZ became the first New Zealand telecommunications provider to win a TM Forum Catalyst Award for its AI-powered project, "The Butler Did It." The company received the honor in the Showcase and Storyline Excellence category during the Digital Transformation World event in Copenhagen in June.
One NZ developed the project in collaboration with Vodafone, Salesforce, AWS, Personal in Argentina, Aria, and Virtusa. The initiative explores using AI-driven digital butlers to assist business customers in optimizing network performance, monitoring security risks, and proactively resolving service issues. The project was one of six winners selected from 49 international teams involving over 1,350 participants.
Company executives stated the award validates their strategy to move beyond traditional connectivity services toward becoming a more AI-enabled provider. General Manager of AI & Data Products Neeharika Chowdhary and Transformation General Manager Sharina Nisha noted that the recognition demonstrates the ability of New Zealand innovation to compete on a global stage.
