Jared Huffman Publishes Book Warning Against Christian Nationalism

Representative Jared Huffman, a Democrat from California and the only self-declared humanist in Congress, has published a book titled "No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy From Christian Nationalism." In the text, Huffman argues that extreme Christian nationalism, enabled by influential Republicans, represents the most dangerous political movement in the United States by targeting pluralism and the separation of church and state.

Huffman specifically identifies Speaker Mike Johnson as a Christian nationalist who advances the movement's cause through events such as the National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance. He also characterizes Ralph Drollinger, the founder of Capitol Ministries who leads Bible studies for elected officials, as a dangerous extremist.

The author extends his criticism to both parties, alleging that his Democratic colleagues have been unable to confront the threat. He further claims that former Representative Liz Cheney removed references to Christian nationalism from the January 6 committee report to avoid being labeled as anti-Christian. In response to these concerns, Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez defended her participation in bipartisan Bible studies as an expression of her faith and a rejection of political walls.
