OIC Condemns Israeli Raid on UNRWA Headquarters in Qalandiya
Hissein Brahim Taha of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned the Israeli raid and evacuation of the UNRWA headquarters in Qalandiya.
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hissein Brahim Taha, condemned a raid and subsequent evacuation of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) headquarters in the Qalandiya area, north of occupied Jerusalem.
Taha characterized the action by Israeli authorities as a dangerous escalation in the targeting of UN institutions and a threat to the rights of Palestinian refugees. He stated that UNRWA provides irreplaceable health, educational, and social services to refugees.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation called on the United Nations and the Security Council to intervene to halt these actions. The organization urged the international community to ensure the protection of UNRWA staff and facilities so the agency can continue its legal mandate.
