Merlin and Mojang to Open Minecraft Hotel in London

Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios are collaborating on a £50 million project to launch the first Minecraft-themed hotel and immersive land, scheduled to open in 2027. The development will be located within Chessington World of Adventures in south-west London as a new area called Minecraft World.

The four-storey hotel will feature 69 rooms, consisting of 20 premium and 49 standard options, all designed with the game's signature blocky aesthetic. Guests will have access to an underwater-themed restaurant and a bar inspired by the Woodland Mansion. Daisy Mercedes, a creative producer at Merlin Entertainments, stated that the design ensures fans can "sleep inside" the game.

Beyond the hotel, the Minecraft World land will introduce the first Minecraft rollercoaster, Escape The Nether. The ride will transport guests through dark mines and a Nether portal into an Overworld-themed zone. Filip Keatley Thoms, creative lead for Minecraft Parks and Experiences at Mojang Studios, noted that the project focuses on translating the game's biomes, mobs, and items into a physical medium to create an authentic experience for fans.
