JetBlue Launches BlueFirst Cabin and Unbundled Fare Structure
JetBlue Airways is introducing a new domestic first-class cabin called BlueFirst and a three-tier unbundled pricing model to increase profitability and customer choice.
JetBlue Airways announced a comprehensive overhaul of its cabin branding and fare structure on July 27, 2026, to increase profitability and align with industry trends. The airline will launch a new domestic first-class product called BlueFirst later this year, specifically for aircraft not equipped with its high-end Mint business-class suites.
The carrier is transitioning to an unbundled pricing model where customers first select an onboard experience—Main, EvenMore, BlueFirst, or Mint—and then choose from three fare types: Base, Standard, or Flex. The Base fare provides the lowest price point but removes perks such as advance seat selection and cash refunds. The Mint cabin will remain restricted to Standard and Flex options. Additionally, JetBlue is renaming its Core economy cabin to Main.
This strategic shift mirrors recent moves by Delta Air Lines and United Airlines to segment premium cabins. JetBlue reports that premium cabins are currently outperforming economy seats, with revenue growth approximately nine percentage points higher year over year. The airline aims to capitalize on high demand for premium experiences while offsetting rising fuel costs.
