US Navy Suspends Orders for Aevex BlackSea Drone Boats
The United States Navy suspended new orders of Aevex Corp. drone speedboats after an independent assessment identified hardware performance issues.
The United States Navy has suspended new orders of the Global Autonomous Reconnaissance Craft (GARC), a drone speedboat manufactured by Aevex Corp. through its BlackSea platform. The decision follows an independent assessment commissioned by the Navy program office, which identified ongoing performance issues linked to hardware limitations.
The Navy has already spent over 130 million dollars on the technology. Officials stated that the emergence of more suitable and cost-effective alternatives, including one-way attack drones, contributed to the decision to halt further purchases of the reconnaissance crafts.
