Revolut Surpasses 5 Million Retail Customers in Romania
Revolut reached 5 million retail customers in Romania and is opening a new Bucharest headquarters to support its local expansion.
Financial technology company Revolut has surpassed 5 million retail customers in Romania, adding more than 500,000 users over the past year. The company has maintained its position as the most downloaded financial app in the country for four consecutive years, with a 40% increase in users utilizing the platform as their primary account.
To support this growth, the company is opening a 1,300 sqm headquarters at Charles de Gaulle Plaza in Bucharest. The new office will house nearly 300 Romanian employees focused on product development and collaboration. Revolut Business is also expanding, approaching 30,000 customers, while its Revolut Pay service has reached over 150,000 active users.
Operating through a local branch of Revolut Bank UAB, the company provides Romanian IBANs, personal loans, savings accounts, and investment services. Executives characterized the region as a mature banking market, noting that three out of four card payments are made locally.
