Apple Prepares Smart Home Expansion With AI-Powered Devices

Apple Inc. is developing a new suite of AI-enhanced smart home hardware including a display-based hub, updated Apple TV, and refreshed HomePod mini.

Apple Inc. is preparing a significant expansion into the smart home market with several new devices designed to leverage upgraded Siri AI capabilities. The company plans to launch a new Apple TV 4K set-top box and a refreshed HomePod mini this fall, both of which will feature faster chips to support AI integration.

Central to this strategy is a new smart home hub featuring a 7-inch square display, slated for release between October 2026 and early 2027. This device will run a new operating system based on tvOS and utilize a facial recognition system to personalize the user interface in real time. Reports indicate the hub is being developed in two versions: one with a half-dome-shaped base and another designed for magnetic wall mounting.

Further developments in the pipeline include a high-end robotic home hub equipped with a 9-inch display and an advanced in-home security camera.
