Chinese Navy Completes Goodwill Visit and Joint Training in Brunei

The People's Liberation Army Navy concluded a four-day goodwill visit to Muara Port, Brunei, on July 28, 2026. The 83rd task force, comprising the training ship Qijiguang and the amphibious dock landing ship Kunlunshan, arrived on July 24 as part of a far-seas internship training program and to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

During the visit, the task force conducted joint training exercises with the Royal Brunei Navy and held a courtesy call between the task force commander and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy Fleet. The mission included ship-open events, symposiums, and exchanges at Bruneian military facilities, universities, and the defense academy.

On July 26, the task force and the Chinese Embassy in Brunei co-hosted an on-deck reception to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army. Defense attache Dai Qilin stated that China pursues a path of peaceful development and supports world peace through UN peacekeeping and humanitarian operations. The event featured community outreach and stage performances for local residents to strengthen bilateral military friendship and regional stability.
