Three Japanese companies—Toto Ltd., Nittobo Co., Ltd., and Ajinomoto Co., Inc.—saw their stock prices surge by 78%, 63%, and 61% respectively this year as demand grew for their critical hardware components in the AI semiconductor supply chain. While widely known for luxury toilets, glass fiber, and seasonings, these firms provide specialized materials essential for chip production.
Toto Ltd. produces ceramic electrostatic chucks used to hold silicon wafers during the etching process. For the financial year ending March 31, the company reported a 34% revenue increase in its advanced ceramics segment. Nittobo Co., Ltd. supplies T-glass for AI servers and semiconductor package substrates, reporting a 39.7% climb in operating profit for its electronic materials division.
Ajinomoto Co., Inc. manufactures Ajinomoto Build-up Film (ABF), an insulating material used in high-performance computer processor packaging. The company's Healthcare and Others business saw profits surge by 45.1% during the same fiscal period. Together, these firms have shifted from their primary consumer reputations to become key players in the global AI infrastructure market.
