Ted Cruz Releases Book Defending Justice Clarence Thomas

Senator Ted Cruz released a new book titled 'Going Further,' which profiles Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his evolution from a youth as a left-wing radical to a leading conservative jurist. Cruz describes Thomas as a justice uniquely willing to overturn legal precedent to return to the original understanding of the Constitution.

During a Sunday appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Cruz defended Thomas against critics who argue the justice has overturned decisions that originally facilitated his own path to the court, including rulings on affirmative action. Cruz characterized the bitterness and derision directed at Thomas as profoundly unfair, asserting that critics on the left exhibit real bigotry because they are offended that a Black man holds conservative beliefs.

In promoting the book, Cruz discussed Thomas's judicial philosophy and his history of defying expectations, such as his early opposition to interracial dating bans at Bob Jones University. Cruz also clarified that he has no personal desire to become a judge, stating that he prefers to remain active in political and policy disputes.
