US Home Prices Rise Fourth Straight Month in July
S&P Dow Jones Indices reports home prices in 20 major US cities rose 0.32% in July, the strongest monthly growth since December 2025.
S&P Dow Jones Indices reported that home prices in the 20 largest United States cities rose for the fourth consecutive month in July 2026. The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite index increased 0.32% month-over-month, surpassing expectations of a 0.2% rise and marking the strongest monthly growth since December 2025.
This trend represents the fastest annual home price appreciation since May 2025. Despite these nominal gains, the index noted that home prices continued to decline in real terms for the 14th straight month.
A geographic divide remains evident between Eastern and Western metropolitan markets. Chicago led all areas with a 6.9% annual gain, while Seattle saw the largest annual decline at 1.6%, followed by Las Vegas and Denver. Rebecca Kaufman, Associate Director of Commodities at S&P Dow Jones Indices, described the trend as "a notable departure from typical seasonal patterns."
