Alibaba.com Launches Accio AI Platform and Open-Source Benchmark

Alibaba.com released the Accio AI agent platform and an open-source benchmark to reduce e-commerce operational costs for small businesses.

Alibaba.com launched Accio, an AI agent platform designed to reduce the cost of e-commerce tasks by more than 50% compared to general-purpose agents. During the company's annual CoCreate event for entrepreneurs, the platform was introduced as a unified workspace for small businesses to manage sourcing, research, and daily operations through integrations with Walmart, TikTok Shop, eBay, Shopify, and Amazon.

To evaluate performance, the company's Accio team released CommerceAgentBench, an open-source benchmark on GitHub. The dataset consists of 107 end-to-end tasks across logistics, procurement, fulfillment, and after-sales service, derived from 1.6 million conversations and 10 million active small-business users. Testing showed that the strongest frontier model completed 61.7% of tasks, with failures occurring primarily in multi-leg shipping routes, conflicting document reconciliation, and fraud detection.

Cost evaluations indicated that Accio completed the benchmark task set for an estimated $3.69, significantly lower than the $9.27 cost for OpenAI's Codex and $9.51 for Anthropic's Claude Code. President Kuo Zhang stated that the initiative aims to make commerce AI practical and affordable for companies of all sizes, including one-person operations.
