Russia Claims Destruction of 285 Ukrainian Drones
Russian air defense units intercepted 285 Ukrainian drones targeting central and western regions, including five drones attempting to enter Moscow.
The Russian Defence Ministry reported that its air defense units intercepted and destroyed 285 Ukrainian drones over a 12-hour period on August 8, 2026. The drone swarm was downed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Moscow time, with the attacks primarily targeting central and western Russian regions.
Among the targeted areas was the region of Bashkortostan. In the capital, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that air defense units successfully destroyed five drones that were attempting to enter Moscow.
The operation represents a concentrated aerial effort by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory across multiple administrative regions.
