Stefany Shaheen Wins New Hampshire 1st District House Seat

Stefany Shaheen won the election Tuesday for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District. A former member of the Portsmouth City Council, Shaheen campaigned on expanding healthcare access to secure the victory.

Shaheen defeated Republican candidate Anthony DiLorenzo, a first-time candidate who received the backing of President Donald Trump. The Associated Press declared Shaheen the winner at 9:21 p.m. EST.

Shaheen takes over the open seat previously held by Democratic Representative Chris Pappas, who vacated the position to seek a seat in the U.S. Senate.
