AnimaWings Files for Insolvency Amid Fleet Technical Failures
AnimaWings has initiated judicial reorganization proceedings to restructure debts after technical issues grounded six of its eight aircraft.
Romanian airline AnimaWings has filed for insolvency protection through a judicial reorganization process to stabilize its operations and restructure financial obligations. The company withdrew six of its eight aircraft—all Airbus A220-300s—from service due to repeated technical problems that left the planes unavailable for extended periods.
CEO Marius Pandel stated the decision was necessary to protect the company after fleet issues created a ripple effect across the business, compounded by rising oil costs and global economic pressure. The airline is facing severe legal challenges, with court records showing approximately 11,900 total cases against the company, including nearly 3,000 filed in September alone, mostly regarding delayed or cancelled flights.
AnimaWings continues to operate flights using its two remaining Airbus A320 aircraft. The company warned that flight schedules will be adjusted to reflect this limited capacity, which may lead to further cancellations or rescheduling. Affected passengers are being notified directly and offered refunds or alternative travel arrangements.
