Goldman Sachs Forecasts $7.6 Trillion AI Infrastructure Spend

Goldman Sachs estimates AI data centers and hardware spending will reach $7.6 trillion by 2031, benefiting infrastructure providers like Applied Digital.

Goldman Sachs estimates that $7.6 trillion will be spent on AI data centers, computing hardware, and electricity between 2026 and 2031. This massive projected investment is fueled by expected productivity gains, including a forecast from Anthropic stating that AI could increase U.S. labor productivity by 1.8% annually over the next decade.

Applied Digital is positioned to capitalize on this trend by designing, building, and operating dedicated AI data centers. The company currently holds contracts to build and lease 1.4 gigawatts of capacity, which represents $36 billion in long-term contracted lease revenue. This figure could rise to $86 billion if renewal options are exercised.

Reflecting this growth, Applied Digital reported total revenue of $611 million for fiscal 2026, marking a 167% increase in its top line for the year. The company provides critical infrastructure for hyperscalers and other enterprise customers.
