Karnataka Cabinet Expansion Postponed Ahead of New Delhi Meetings

B K Hariprasad announced a brief delay in Karnataka cabinet expansion talks as leaders prepare to meet party command in New Delhi on July 18.

Discussions to expand the Karnataka cabinet have been postponed by one to two days, as announced by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President B K Hariprasad. The delay follows a meeting in Bengaluru between Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Both leaders are scheduled to travel to New Delhi on July 18 to meet with the Indian National Congress high command to finalize the new appointments. This process occurs while the current cabinet remains at 14 members following the resignation of Siddaramaiah.

The expansion effort faces intense pressure from MLAs, seers, and community representatives lobbying for ministerial positions. In response, the Congress high command has warned legislators that appointments will be determined by performance, regional balance, and social representation rather than lobbying efforts.
