Google Launches Personal Intelligence for Gemini on Android Auto

Google is rolling out Personal Intelligence for Gemini on Android Auto, allowing the AI to access user data for personalized in-car assistance.

Google began the global rollout of Personal Intelligence for Gemini on Android Auto on October 19, 2026. The feature enables the AI assistant to securely access a user's data from Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube, and Search to provide tailored responses via natural voice interactions.

Drivers can use the system to retrieve flight gate information from emails, navigate to appointments using calendar data, or find restaurants based on personal preferences. While the update is currently launching for Android Auto, support for vehicles with Google built-in is expected in the coming months.

The service is optional and requires explicit user permission to connect apps, with settings managed through the Gemini app. It is available to personal Google accounts for users aged 18 and older, though it excludes Google Workspace business, enterprise, and education accounts. The feature is currently unavailable in Nigeria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the European Economic Area.

Separately, technical guides indicate that Android Auto can be operated on GrapheneOS. By installing sandboxed versions of Google Play Services and the Play Store, users can run the interface without granting Google system-wide privileges.
