Chemung Financial Unifies Subsidiaries Under Canal Bank & Trust Name

Chemung Financial Corporation announced plans to unify its principal subsidiary, Chemung Canal Trust Company, and its Capital Bank and Canal Bank divisions under a single brand name: Canal Bank & Trust, N.A. The rebranding effort aims to strengthen brand recognition and simplify the customer experience by aligning digital channels and the branch network under one identity.

The company will introduce the new name and logo in the coming months, with a full implementation across its footprint scheduled throughout 2027. Leadership emphasized that the transition is strictly a brand unification. There will be no changes to the organization's ownership, leadership, mission, or community-banking approach.

Customers do not need to take any action, as existing accounts, checks, and digital services will remain functional without interruption. Executives noted that the new identity honors the company's history as the oldest locally owned and managed community bank in New York while positioning the organization for future growth.
