Kopin Corporation Wins $18.6 Million Army MicroLED Contract

Kopin Corporation received an $18.6 million sole-source award to develop MicroLED displays for pilot heads-up displays and ground-soldier equipment.

Kopin Corporation received an $18.6 million sole-source award from the Office of the Secretary of War through the U.S. Army Contracting Command. The funding, provided under the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program, brings the company's total IBAS funding to $34 million.

The company will use the capital to develop two additional MicroLED display configurations for pilot heads-up displays and ground-soldier equipment, including augmented-reality platforms and weapon sights. The technology aims to increase brightness, durability, and power efficiency for operational environments.

Kopin Corporation also intends to use the award to expand its manufacturing capabilities within the United States. CEO Michael Murray stated that the U.S. government has now committed $34 million through IBAS to advance MicroLED technology.
