GoTo Chief People Officer Advises Job Seekers on AI Policies
Meredith Hawkins advises job seekers to question potential employers about AI policies to address widespread worker anxiety over AI accountability and job security.
Chief People Officer at GoTo Meredith Hawkins advises job seekers to ask thoughtful questions about a potential employer's AI policies during interviews. She suggests this approach helps candidates gauge company culture and expectations while demonstrating they are strategic and prepared.
This guidance follows research by GoTo across 2,500 companies, which revealed that 83% of workers fear being fired or blamed for mistakes made by AI. The study also identified a disparity in policy adoption based on company size: 53% of large enterprises have AI policies, compared to 36% of midsize firms and 24% of small companies.
To mitigate these concerns, GoTo has established its own guidelines for employee data protection and talent acquisition. The company now trains managers to reinforce these AI expectations with new hires during their first 90 days of employment.
