CAPPA Urges Electoral and Security Reforms Ahead of 2027 Elections
Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa called for early preparations to ensure transparency in Nigeria's 2027 elections and a comprehensive overhaul of national security.
Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa issued a warning that Nigeria cannot afford another electoral cycle marked by hate speech, irregularities, and a loss of public trust. In a joint statement by Board Chairman Auwal Musa Rafsanjani and Executive Director Akinbode Oluwafemi, the organization called for a reset of national priorities as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The group urged the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to begin early preparations to ensure transparency and vote integrity. CAPPA also called on the judiciary to uphold the sanctity of the ballot and requested all levels of government to strengthen democratic institutions.
Beyond electoral concerns, the organization demanded a comprehensive overhaul of the national security architecture to address persistent killings and kidnappings. Additionally, CAPPA criticized current fiscal reforms, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, stating that these measures have failed to provide relief to citizens struggling with unemployment and inflation.
