Tarique Rahman Outlines National Rebuilding Strategy at UN General Assembly

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman conducted a four-day visit to New York for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly to outline a national rebuilding vision. Delivering a speech in Bangla, Rahman introduced a 3-R Strategy focused on Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction.

During a round-table meeting on Wall Street with JP Morgan Chase, Rahman stated that "Bangladesh is ready for investment (open for business)" as he sought to attract foreign direct investment. He held more than 30 high-level meetings, including discussions with Boeing, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and leaders from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE to address labor market expansion and energy security.

On the international stage, Rahman demanded climate justice and the release of climate funds for vulnerable nations. He advocated for the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of over 1.2 million Rohingya refugees to Myanmar and reiterated support for the right of Palestine to self-determination.

Regarding domestic policy, Rahman pledged to increase educational expenditures to 5 percent of GDP over the next five years. This initiative aims to bridge the digital and artificial intelligence divide within Bangladesh.
