Ernst & Young Allocates $100 Million for Human Skills Rewards

Ernst & Young is investing $100 million to reward U.S. employees who develop critical human skills and AI experimentation to counter automation of entry-level tasks.

Ernst & Young is allocating $100 million to reward employees in the United States who develop future-focused human skills, including judgment, adaptability, and business acumen, alongside AI experimentation. The initiative provides spot awards of up to $500 and larger cash prizes reaching $25,000 for individuals and teams whose work creates a significant impact on the firm.

This investment addresses an industry-wide concern that AI is automating routine entry-level tasks, which may hinder the professional development of younger workers. Ginnie Carlier, EY Americas Chief Talent and Culture Officer, stated that the program aims to empower professionals to challenge what is possible and shape the future of the firm.

Other Big Four firms are emphasizing similar priorities to ensure career advancement in an AI-driven environment. KPMG and PwC have highlighted that critical thinking and the ability to explain the reasoning behind recommendations remain essential for leadership. Specifically, leaders at these firms have identified learning agility and the application of context as key ways for employees to differentiate themselves as technology handles more routine work.
