Perplexity AI Adopts Nvidia Vera CPUs for Agentic Workloads

Perplexity AI is integrating Nvidia's new Vera CPUs to accelerate AI agent coding tasks by approximately 1.5 times.

AI startup Perplexity AI confirmed plans to utilize Nvidia's new Vera central processing units to manage its core workloads. Vice President Nate Kupp reported that the Vera CPU executes AI agent coding tasks roughly 1.5 times faster than traditional CPUs, stating the hardware is a "dead-on fit" for the company's operational needs.

Nvidia developed the Vera CPU as a Max Single-Threaded chip specifically optimized for agentic AI workloads, which require the continuous processing necessary for AI agents. The company expects the new hardware to generate $20 billion in sales by the end of the current fiscal year as it challenges established CPU providers Intel and Advanced Micro Devices.

Beyond Perplexity, several other prominent AI and technology firms, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Oracle, and xAI, also plan to adopt the Vera CPU hardware.
