Manipur Leaders Celebrate First MnERC Foundation Day in Imphal

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla attended the first Foundation Day celebration of the Manipur Electricity Regulatory Commission (MnERC) in Imphal on July 23, 2026. The MnERC serves as an independent statutory body responsible for regulating electricity tariffs, issuing licenses, and promoting renewable energy within the state.

During the event, Singh noted that steady population growth and a rise in residential, commercial, and industrial consumers have introduced new challenges to the power sector. He pledged the state government's full support for the MnERC in its efforts to improve service delivery and protect consumer interests.

Governor Bhalla highlighted the role of sector reforms in making electricity a primary area for innovation and investment. He stated that reliable and affordable power is necessary for the economic progress of the region and the well-being of its citizens.
