Apple Launches MacBook Pro with OLED Touch Displays

Apple Inc. released a new MacBook Pro featuring OLED touchscreens and M5 chips, while announcing plans to phase out non-touch models by 2027.

Apple Inc. launched a new MacBook Pro featuring the company's first OLED touch displays, branded as Proled Screens. Available in 14.2-inch and 16.3-inch variants, the laptops integrate touch sensors directly into the display to reduce latency and introduce the Dynamic Island for real-time activity tracking.

The devices are powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips with integrated Neural Accelerators for AI workloads, offering up to 24 hours of battery life in a thinner, lighter chassis. Hardware specifications include Thunderbolt 5 ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and a six-speaker audio system. The laptops ship with macOS 27 and are available for pre-order, with deliveries beginning November 6. Pricing for the touch-enabled models starts at $2,899 for the 14-inch and $3,399 for the 16-inch versions.

Following the launch, the company announced a strategic shift to phase out non-touch MacBook Pro models by 2027. Only the entry-level 14-inch version will remain without a touchscreen, though it will be upgraded to an M7 chip and a thinner design with a starting price of $1,999. This transition is expected to create a pricing gap of approximately $900 between standard and touch-enabled models by 2027.
