Pimco and Oaktree Bid for Arini Capital Debt
Pacific Investment Management Co. and Oaktree Capital Management have submitted bids for high-yield debt holdings held by Arini Capital Management following a 26% fund decline.
Arini Capital Management is seeking to sell high-yield debt holdings after its flagship fund fell approximately 26% in 2026 through October 23. The fund experienced a sharp 12% drop in October alone, driven by rising global interest rates, higher energy prices, and threats from artificial intelligence.
Pacific Investment Management Co. (Pimco) and Oaktree Capital Management have submitted preliminary bids for these assets. Arini has already offloaded some debt tied to large speculative-grade companies. Dealers are now reviewing additional assets, including debt from Sabre Corp., which are considered stronger performers and easier to liquidate.
As of August 31, 2026, Arini reported 22 billion dollars in total assets across all strategies, with its flagship fund holding 7.5 billion dollars under management as of July. Discussions regarding the bids remain preliminary, and a final transaction is not guaranteed.
