Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with executives from Huawei and ByteDance in Shanghai on July 16 and 17 to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. The meetings coincided with the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, an international body aimed at fostering technological cooperation.
Hartarto invited Huawei to invest in AI and cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and green energy for data centers. He also urged ByteDance to explore establishing an AI research center and developing Large Language Models to assist local micro, small, and medium enterprises in reaching international markets.
These discussions align with the broader economic diplomacy strategy of the Indonesian government to accelerate national digital transformation and attract high-value technology investments.
